Heko wind deflectors

Heko wind deflectors are these any good.
Thinking of installing them when summer comes & I can have window open instead of air con if they reduce wind noise?
Also do they damage window rubbers etc??
Opinions welcome

Wind deflectors actually add wind noise. Cars are so aerodynamic nowadays, any addition to the exterior I find adds wind noise.

I’ve installed Hekos on mine, wind noise hasn’t been notable and rubbers will return to normal if you remove the deflectors with a little heat or a couple of summer days. Only noticeable difference is that you have to put the metal clips in the upright channels as there is no room in the horizontal upper channels. Having said that, all fit perfectly and no difference in window operation. Biggest benefit is no rain dripping in and helps defog the interior without less cold air getting in.

I thought wind deflectors were just for old fellas who smoke in their car and need the windows open at all times to get rid of their ash/butt's.

I was going to fit them to leave windows open slightly in summer for less noise & save on using air con but they apparently don't reduce wind noise.

The general rule for Summer ventilation is:

Below 30mph, open a window, above that, use the aircon. Somewhere between 30 and 40, the aerodynamic drag of having a window open will outweigh the Aircon energy consumption. Having recirc on with aircon saves a lot of energy too.

If you want the outside air you can run on fan only by selecting LO temperature with the AC button off but Climate ON. You then have fan only that is minimal energy consumption. Works for me when temperatures are around 14C-25C. Above 25C I may use AC with Climate.
You can still select all vent options open and closed in the Climate screen.
