No idea why a cut would put a Zappi into low power mode when power is restored, but attributing every issue on a Born to it being an EV is a generalisation, plenty of EVs are faultless.

The update thing is a bug that you could take it into a dealer for, good chance they can apply an interim
update to resolve it. Cupra aren’t exactly rolling frequent OTA updates out.

You can also visit a DC fast charger if you're low on power and need to get somewhere quickly.

I agree that this car has plenty of issues but that's not going to put me off EVs as a whole, I just won't buy anything from VW group and take my business elsewhere when the time comes.

You can imagine if the situation was reversed and EVs were the norm, you'd see people complaining about having to visit a petrol station every time they wanted to fuel their car...

Oh I get it. People tend to post only when they are griping. I live in deepest Wiltshire, and it's some considerable distance to a fast DC charger. I wouldn't risk it on 16%.
Like I say, it's not the end of my EV experience, I will go full electric again at some point in the future (probably), but the next car isn't going to be full EV.

Anyway, I have a summer to enjoy in the Born first, as I will change it in October (for something not from the VW world!)

Does anyone have a photo of the notorious "new settings are available, do you want to apply them" popup? Cupra support are asking for a photo but it's intermittent and I have gotten it for a couple of days now.

Cupra support got back with the fix for the dealer

"Please Perform VKMS and SWK to rewriting the ZDC (Ziel Daten Container) of the Java partition of the ICAS1 (DA 8124)
Afterwards please perform a bus idle, then please ICAS1 Reset via fuse SC41 (15 min).
Afterwards, check the function of the mobile online services. If this check shows that something does not work as it should, please read out all available data of diagnosis address 0075 and create a DISS-ticket"

Will try to get this booked in and see how it goes.

There is a dealer fix for the 'new settings are available' popup.. I had mine done around 4 weeks ago and it's yet to re-appear.

Does this help the car remember your sound settings like volume when doors opened? My car should be getting this fix applied today
