As the remote control for the garage stopped working, we are left to going old school and open the garage door with a tag

Although I noticed this before, as soon as you lift your behind to get to the keys in the pocket easier, the car thinks you are somehow leaving and goes into park… quite annoying:(

The seat sensor is, in most cases excellent, and the way it ought to work, but could be improved. For example, when going in reverse, I am used to actually look through the rear window, resulting in a nice little lift from the seat, and the damn car stops with a jolt.

Here’s my suggestion for improvement:
How about, instead of havingbthe sensors in the seat react instantly, there would be a 10s delay? That way, you would get these crazy shut offs when you’re just moving about in your seat.

Anybody else got any good ideas onnwgat can be improved in an otherwise great car?

I'd like to see charging increments of 5% instead of the current 10%, ie 80,85,90,95,100%
Often 90% is not enough for a long trip and I'd rather not go to 100% too often.

1) the reversing camera moved under the boot logo like on the ID3. It’s higher up and doesn’t get dirty / wet there.

2) lane assist having a physical button; though that’s against the legislation (that was clearly made by people that haven’t understood the consequences).

3) Heating, volume, window, cruise control and any safety related controls having actual buttons.

4) the wiper sweep being reversed in the U.K. so rain isn’t dumped into the drivers line of sight.

5) the pitch of the sound for pedestrians being changed so it doesn’t penetrate the cabin so much. It’s very audible on the Born but can hardly be heard in the ID3.

I have mentioned a delay on the ignition/seat sensor before. You get out to open a gate, clear the screen etc and the whole damn car resets. Stupid.

Actual buttons. We all know that and VW have gone back to them now.

Front assist/headlight dip camera somewhere where the wipers can clean it and with it's own small defrost element.

Heated steering wheel settings that are somewhere near linear, rather than 'Brand', 'Nuclear hot' and 'Surface of sun'.

Heated seats not all being at the back. My thighs are still cold when they are on.

An App that wasn't written by a 4 yr old

Touch door sensors that work below -3 deg

An entire rethink of the infotainment system. Just too long winded to get to certain functions.

A light in the glovebox

A fuseboard listing on the glovebox lid (and the one under the bonnet)

A gas strut on the front bonnet would have been nice (but not really essential)

Alloy wheels that don't hold water behind the spokes. Corrosion event in waiting there.

Not instantly stopping the car when you open a door in reverse to see where you are going

Better headlights. I find them pretty poor on full beam to be honest.

I did a Alan 'Fluff' Freeman style top 10 rundown of my shoddy Ford Ranger once. I put it up on Youtube and amazingly, after I sent the link to Ford Customer services.... they arranged to fix the issues

I haven't tried 2 or 3, but setting one is easily bearable. I only want to take the chill off rather than have a warm steering wheel. No bother to knock it off when that chill is gone.

Heated seats not all being at the back. My thighs are still cold when they are on. Heated seats are base and back, but only the central panels, not the bolsters. As the bolsters are put under a lot of compression getting in and out of the car, I get why they didn't.

SOME ability to remember anything I actually set as a preference. This is a general annoyance for most. They should really put a priority on at least remembering things that don't appreciably affect range if left on e.g. remember to mirror dip if I left it on. I do think that most of the forgetfulness is deliberate for EU efficiency/range claims e.g. defaulting to comfort driving mode every time.

Every car with alloys I have ever owned has a "gutter" ridge behind the spokes, and not one has had corrosion originating from that gutter. I've had plenty of whiteworm corrosion from lacquer peel or stone chips on the alloy front face within warranty.


Not instantly stopping the car when you open a door in reverse to see where you are going. Seems a sensible safety feature. Maybe should be able to turn this feature off as a one off event if you feel the need to rely on an open door rather than wing mirrors.

Better headlights. I find them pretty poor on full beam to be honest. I find them OK and in keeping with other LED headlights on any other car marque that aren't "Matrix" type. Not as good as the Xenons on my 2015 Golf R, but again, same for other LED headlights that aren't matrix.

Your builders hands should be pretty much impervious to anything after being roughed up with a bit of graft. For me, the heated steeering wheel is on for 2 mins to get the chill off, then I turn it off (to stop my hands getting sweaty, rather than burnt).

The biggest gripe for me is the inability to be able to use the heating system on heat, with the fan only, independantly of the aircon. On my previous car, the car had the same type heating element, which could be used with the fan independantly, if so desired, This meant that you did not need to have the aircon on to run the heating system because the fan blew through the heating element and heated the air into the cabin. This also meant you could save up to 20 miles range on a trip in the winter by not having to use the range sucking aircon and fan to run the heating system to keep the car warm. The car still had it's auto cabin heat sensors that controlled the cabin temperature if you wanted.

Just a small point but it does/ did make sense...
