MyEnergi Zappi

Just had a Zappi charger fitted at home and I have to say I’m finding it a little underwhelming. It does what it needs to do ie. charges the car but the interface and display seems very out of date, and the app isn’t the most intuitive or modern. I don’t have PV panels but am on an ev tariff that provides very cheap charging for set periods; nothing unusual in that and it should be much more straightforward to set scheduled charging periods imho. Any one else got an opinion or tips on using this charger?

The myCupra App has a feature that lets you schedule charging i think.
I've never had a reason to use it but i think they call it 'schedules' or 'routines' or something along those lines in the app (not that the app is incredible but its better than nothing i suppose)

That's disappointing. All my research, including reviews and installs, indicated that the Zappi was one of the best and easiest to use (maybe it is and all the others are bad). So much so that I have one booked for install on 7 October.
Are you referring to the options on the charger itself, which is a simple panel, or to the options via the Zappi App? also chose it because I'm thiking about installing Solar Panels and battery storage which integrate well with the Zappi.

Setting the charging period through the app, but similar principle applies on the charger itself. It’s very much geared around energy saving and management so to charge at set times you have to go into ‘eco plus’ mode and set a ‘boost’, which you can only do for a max of 8 hours - thus as I say not intuitive, there is no way of setting timings if you are in standard mode or normal eco mode. Also my tariff provides reduced rates right across the weekends and for 9 hours on weekday nights so the 8 hr limit itself is overly limiting. That said, it does work once you figure out how to do it, within the limitations.
The on charger display I just find old fashioned - it is a basic display as you say; I think I just expected more for the money. I find the graphics and interface of the app similarly old fashioned in design, but do think it would be better for a more complex scenario handling solar, wind, batteries etc. which it has functionality to do. The app isn’t rated very highly in the App Store either but like you I also saw plenty of good reviews for the charger and intend to integrate solar IDC.
Perhaps I’m expecting too much, and I can’t comment on other chargers which may or may not be better or worse. But I did expect more from the Zappi, it doesn’t feel modern or cutting edge to me although it works perfectly well, and I think ‘underwhelmed’ sums up my thoughts the best way I can. May be just me, it’s certainly a very popular charger.
Hope that helps.

OK, thanks for the info. I'll see how it goes when mine is installed.
