Hi all,
I’ve got a charging problem. I’ve got a zappi and Intelligent Octopus go. It creates a smart charging schedule when plugged in but octopus fails to stop the charge when it gets to the end of a charging window. I get a notification in the octopus app saying it can’t communicate with the car. I have to manually stop the charge in the zappi app. The car is just set to charge immediately to 100%. Should this be different? I don’t think it’s a signal issue as can access zappi via WiFi no problem. I contacted octopus and got the following reply:
“Thank you for your message. I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing issues with your Zappi charger and the smart charging schedule.
Ive checked the device log for any specific errors, and, It looks like there may be some external interference causing the charging to not stop as expected. I recommend checking the settings on your charger to ensure there are no external schedules created that might be taking control of the charging process.
If you can disable any conflicting schedules or settings, it should help resolve the issue.”
And help/advice would be appreciated.
Octopus charging
I have a Podpoint Solo charger with Octopus IGO.
Octopus in my case controls the car not the charger as I understand it. The Octopus app has a message always to say the car battery level must be set higher than the target level in the car so I generally set the car to 90% and the Octoapp to 80%.
It does overshoot by 1% or 2% but never to the limit set in the car.
Do you need to set the car limit to 100%?
I also periodically get a message on the Octoapp to say it can't control the device. I've raised that with Octopus who just said to make sure the charger is in manual mode but still occasionally get the message.

I’ve got the car and octopus set to 100% and the charger set to manual. I thought it might be the car overriding the smart schedule. Or it might be interference from the charging weakening the WiFi signal thus stopping the stop charging command from octopus. My Cupra is lease hire through work and the advertised mileage isn’t close to actuals so I charge to 100% each time.
I think I'm missing something!
If you always charge to 100% is your problem you overun the Off Peak window?
I've set my IOGo to complete charging by 11am.
That's ok for my normal day is it tends to be PM before I'm using the car.
Octopus in that window often choose to charge my car after 9am. As long as Octopus set the schedule with my window it's charged at 7p/kW even if it's after 0530 hrs.

I work ever changing shifts so I can’t run a fixed charging schedule. When I plug in during the day, sometimes comes up with a few hour or half hour windows on the smart schedule which are charged at the much lower rate. My problem is the charging isn’t stopping when it gets to the end of these windows so I then start to get charged at the much higher peak rate. I have to manually stop the charge via the zappi app. The smart schedules suit my very flexible shifts but are just a bit awkward when they don’t stop when they should.
