Good News!

Just had a call from my dealer contact - my Born battery repair has been completed. He's now got to arrange for it to be transported back to me from Southampton (~180miles), which could take up to two weeks! Next arranged call from Cupra customer service (actually executive office contact as I'd emailed VAG UK MD to complain) arranged for 7th Jan. Will be discussing compensation and 'good will' payment. I calculate I've spent around £250 extra on petrol over and above what my charging costs would have been - I only do low mileage. What would you guys be looking for as a 'good will' payment, on top of the fuel reimbursement, for not having use of your own car for nearly four months?

Cheers, Jerry

My car is home!

After being without it for 4 months and 2 days, it's finally home sitting in my drive. In the end Cupra gave me 'good will' in the form of paying for my dealer-installed dash cam system that I'd arranged before all this trouble started. It wasn't a cheap system, so they paid for that and I paid for the fuel in the hire car. I'm happy with the outcome. Time will tell if I notice any improvements/difference in the Born.

Hope you all have your cars back soon if you haven't already.

Cheers, Jerry

Just got update on Born which went into Dealer on Nov 9th. Still at dealer and due to go to BCC on 21st March!!!!! Thinking of trying to get Cupra to buy it off me. Has anyone tried this and got a decent deal. Anyone also have a lead time from when they get tother BCC. Thanks

BORN arrived back on 12th April after going in about 6th November. Wait At Battery centre was a bit over 2 weeks over Easter. No goodwill offered from dealer. Good to be back on electric but 3.2.1 software not a big improvement on function. Maybe feels a bit less leggy.

I had the battery module check and software update recently. I bought my Born from Bristol Street Motors SEAT Birmingham which closed (they passed my details onto BSM Derby). I booked in with Arbury Cupra in Solihull but they rang to pass me onto Arbury Cupra Stourbridge. The technician was telling my they are a "battery centre" and he's had Born's to repair from down south and from Manchester. I'd never really thought about the limitation of battery centres and how local they are (or not) to you. I think Cupra need to tell people where their nearest battery centres are when you buy the car. Thankfully my module check was fine and the software update (to 3.2.1 I think) went fine. In fact it's fixed the issue I had of my Born forgetting settings. Arbury Cupra Stourbridge were really good. Booked in for my first service in May.

Yes. Took over 5 months to get car back. Gave me a Diesel Peugeot for the whole winter from Europcar. Must have cost them a fortune on hire.

Eek. Mine is booked in on Friday and I'm worried that if it fails the battery module test I won't get it back until it's fixed, and I need a car on the Sunday! They have assured me I'll get it back Friday whatever but from what I've read in this thread I'm not convinced.

To add to this saga, My car was completely dead one morning, having been used about a week before. it has sat longer than this without use previously and no issues.
Upshot is dealer told me I needed to contact Cupra Assist, which I did. The guy boosted my 12v and got the car running and told me I should get the car booked in ASAP for update 3.2/ field campaign 9352 and 93Q2 as my car is eligible.
The car was registered around Sept 22.
Now reading this lot has me worried about timescales, as its will be going back in Nov anyways.

But my main question is: shouldn't the dealer have notified me there was a field campaign and advised me to get it booked in for the updates ?

I think as it is only a campaign it's not seen as urgent where if it was a recall they would be obliged to contact you, years ago I received a letter to advise but that was quite a while ago.

Back in March I did receive a text asking me to book in for a software update and I had noticed in the app that it was showing as Inspection due where it should have still had 8 months before the service was due.

I'll add that my software update didn't go ahead as planned as they had started one earlier in the day and the VW servers went down and they weren't able to complete that so they didn't start mine. It's now booked in for a week in July with a courtesy car provided for the week!
