Hi all,

Did anybody take out the platinum protection package through their Cupra dealer? Is it worth the cost?

Platinum Protection Package:
Includes four different products, a ceramic coating, two-layer coating applied on the exterior and the interior of the car it lasts a life time, and adds £500 value when you come to selling the car.
It protects the car's paint from bird droppings, tree sap, as well the material of the seats if you were to spill anything on the car.

Cost on purchase from dealer = £449

Thanks

The only thing platinum about that will be the salesperson's bonus when you take it.

Theseatmaterials are fully synthetic, nothing will soak in, but things could stick to it (paint, chocolate etc) not sure if there are exclusions there.

Ceramic coatings don't last a lifetime. The very best ones last about 6 years, and the one the dealership will apply will probably last a year before needing a top up. This ceramic coat will be applied onto a (by detailers standards) relatively poorly finished surface that the dealership won't have applied fallout remover to.

Save yourself nearly £400 and buy yourself a decent ceramic sealant e.g. G-Techniq C2V3, some Iron-X, a set of new microfiber cloths and a glass treatment like fast glass or rain-X. Or just buy the Autoglym dealership kit from Ebay for about £30 (they get a kitpercar, and a kit can do a huge car or a few average sized ones, so they sell off the excess kits after using 1 on 2 cars.

All that being said. If you can't be arsed to wash the car once a month, you won't be bothered toapply the aforementioned stuff.

This kit will not enhance the resale of the car by£500, or by anything. Your salesperson will net about £50commission for yhe car sale and another£60 for the Platinum treatment youdescribe.

As @monkeyhanger said above, complete con from the dealer.

Can be decent stuff when the car is prepped correctly and it is applied correctly, but the valeters at the dealership will do neither.

I worked at a main dealer for 5 years, just to put the above in to context.
