So, there seems to be a Cupra Born 'Summit' brand roof rack available now.

https://www.bars4cars.co.uk/products/su ... a064-10536

Its the generic type that clamp to the tops of the door opening.

Thoughts? I am tempted. Would be very handy to plonk on occasionally (not a permanent fixture) if I ever need long lengths of timber etc.

The blurb from Cupra states that the roof is not built to take a roof rack and it's associated weight. Well stuffed if you ever roll the car then. You would think the roof would be stronger due to the mad weight of the battery pack.

I think Cupra/Seat are just covering their backsides because it murders the range (which I don't care about if I am just hopping to Wickes).

Might take a stab at some

There is nothing mechanically preventing you from using the roofbars. The roof is almost identical to what the new generations of Golf or Leon has.

Got a set of Farad roofbars for my Born and have been transporting piles of wood (+50kg) from the hardware store to home without issues.

I've seen many id3's and a couple of Borns fitted with roofboxes here in Sweden.

I guess the worst that can happen is you crash with the roof loaded, and your insurance company refuses to reimburse any damage as of your misuse of the roof.

I'll crawl from the wreckage, unbolt the roofrack and throw it over the hedge, then crawl back in the car again and await for assistance (after deleting the contents of the front and rear dash-cams) :D
