Best Winter Advice
One thing I hadn't considered was how much wet roads affect the range. It was VERY wet but 11c when I set off for a 74 mile dual carriageway only journey earlier this week. Range at setting off was 210 with battery at 100%. Arrived 74 miles later to a battery at 51% and estimated range of 94 miles. Average speed 61mph for the journey.

I get the theory, but I bet he was unpopular driving like that!Jakester wrote: ↑Thu Feb 15, 2024 8:17 pm I always floor it now for the last 5 miles before I get to my rapid charger to get the battery nice and warm... probably a good idea to do for a bit longer as well if it's colder than 0C
I didn't know if was just my imagination or whether it really did make a difference... I always usually get 125kW+ now though... whereas even back in warmer months i was topping out at 95kW, sometimes as low as 30-40kW
I guess it depends who's paying for the charge too... here's a really extreme example of what I mean with the same hardware on the ID4:
I have a question winter related but not about range or charging. We are due snow overnight tonight and I’ve only had my Born V1 e-boost for one month. My previous car had a snow mode which obviously made driving in the snow easy. Does the Born have a snow mode I’m not seeing? Obviously it can’t start in a higher gear as it doesn’t have gears, but I’m wondering whether there is something or some advice, I’m a little concerned because it’s rear wheel drive isn’t it? (Sorry still new to the Born).
On a side note, apart from a Rover 827 with a reworked Honda F1 engine in it, this is the best car I’ve owned, certainly the best car since that Rover in the early 1990’s. It’s also my first electric car and I love the instant power, especially when you set up the launch control (I take it everyone knows how to set that up, the dealer showed me and it explains on the screen.)
Thanks I’m advance for any tips on the driving in snow as it’s gonna come down heavy tonight.

I've not seen a snow specific mode but I think the "range" mode has the lowest setting pedal response so I'll probs use that, otherwise it's worth checking if the individual settings allows an even lower pedal response.woodsphil wrote: ↑Mon Nov 18, 2024 9:09 am I have a question winter related but not about range or charging. Do you mind explaining how to use the launch control, first i've heard about it on this car
This is from the most recent manual so it may only be on the newer MY25 cars...Kalisnoir wrote: ↑Mon Nov 18, 2024 2:34 pm I've not seen a snow specific mode but I think the "range" mode has the lowest setting pedal response so I'll probs use that, otherwise it's worth checking if the individual settings allows an even lower pedal response.

Hi,
maybe not completely relevant for this topic but I try.
I am looking for some recommendation regarding winter tyres (tyres only not the complete wheels).
My summer tyres are Michelin Pilot Sport EV 235/40 RZ 20 96Y. Is Bridgestone Blizzak 6 235/40 R20 96 W XL, FR the reasonable choice? Is the specification compatible with my current setup?
Thank in advance for any advise.

That tyre size is quite restrictive in choice, I have the same summer tyres, but switch to 19" wheels in winter. I would recommend spending a little more and getting the LM005 tyre. It comes out near the top on all reviews on youtube, has very good reviews elsewhere, one of the best wet and snow tyres, where in the uk, wet performance is probably more important.
The Blizzak 6 doesn't seem to be reviewed much, but maybe I'm not looking hard enough.
Cupra Born, 77Kw, Silver, 20" Firestorm, Advance Pack, Beats, Heat Pump, Swiss Model.

What winter tyres did you put on your 19'' wheels? Taylor T2 you mentioned?
