Hi everyone,
I pick my Cupra born v2 up 2 weeks ago, when I was at the dealers I got told there was a 6 month wait but they had a 59kw in Aurora blue that’s just arrived in port which would be available in 2 weeks, as I didn’t want to wait 6 months I went for it (it was the colour I wanted) I’m kinda regretting my hasty decision:( I thought they all came with wireless charging points and the dealership never told me about upgrading to tech packs (which as really annoyed) I’d like to have had the option of keyless entry (I don’t see the point in taking my key out of my pocket to unlock the car to then put in back in my pocket whilst driving and repeat to lock my car!!

If it makes you feel any better, the wireless phone charging in the Born is utterly shite, to the point that I just never use it any more. It's super sensitive about where your phone is positioned, and as soon as you go around a corner the phone will slide sideways and stop charging. Basically useless. I just charge with a cable now which I always have poking out of the armrest cubby hole.
Keyless entry is wonderful though.

First thing I turned off in my Born was keyless entry. I hate it and it also makes your car far more vulnerable to theft.
Nope. Kessy Advanced uses UWB which isn't vulnerable to any known attacks yet. It's an extremely robust protocol security-wise and it would be very surprising if it gets compromised within the next 15y.rogeranderson wrote: ↑Sat Nov 16, 2024 7:30 pm First thing I turned off in my Born was keyless entry. (I actually didn't order any tech package for different reasons though)
I ended up making a U-shaped cradle kind of thing that I taped to the wireless charging pad. It lifts my phone up a bit to better place it over the coils, and stops it from sliding sideways when cornering.mluisbrown wrote: ↑Fri Nov 15, 2024 11:52 am It's super sensitive about where your phone is positioned, and as soon as you go around a corner the phone will slide sideways and stop charging.
I should not have had to do this.
OK, you're entitled to your own choices. I love it. First thing I specify on a new car.rogeranderson wrote: ↑Sat Nov 16, 2024 7:30 pm First thing I turned off in my Born was keyless entry. I hate it
Outdated nonsense and FUD. It was almost true several years back but most (if not all) manufacturers have changed technology so it is no greater a risk than keyed entry which was being duped before keyless existed.rogeranderson wrote: ↑Sat Nov 16, 2024 7:30 pm and it also makes your car far more vulnerable to theft.
If thieves want to steal your car they will do so regardless of what locking method you have on your car.

Unfortunately only 50% of new vehicles with keyless entry being sold use UWB: https://carconnectivity.org/uwbs-increa ... lications/
Here's the German automobile club ADAC's list of shame from last month:

Only 10% of vehicles with keyless entry tested in the last 13 years are protected against current attack vectors - see column 4. Remote unlocking and column 5. Unauthorized motor start.
OK, but what about now?
Of the 71 2023 models they tested, only 13 were protected.
And of the 35 2024 models, only 14 were protected (via UWB).

Luckily the Cupra Born is one of those 14 & 13 models has UWB so, which is all that matters in this forum.Elea4 wrote: ↑Fri Nov 22, 2024 12:41 pmUnfortunately only 50% of new vehicles with keyless entry being sold use UWB: https://carconnectivity.org/uwbs-increa ... lications/
