Just an update on this thread. our born is finally in the dealer for recalls and a mountain of other issues along with 3.2.1 update. Dealer confirmed my suspicions and it is indeed a driveshaft fault. They then proceeded to tell me that they don't even have the special tool to carry out the work. Cant wait to move away from VAG group after the shambles with the born. Love the car, but everything else is just ridiculous.
also had to convince the dealer that the battery module can be checked at any dealer and not just a battery care centre after trying to be fobbed off to a battery care centre.
The lack of knowledge with certain dealers with the born is very worrying indeed , not to mention not even having a 'special tool' to remove the driveshaft. Embarrassing.
Click sound from rear wheels
I had a similar experience with the battery module check which was finally resolved by Cupra calling the dealership to explain the process. I also have the "Click" and asked them to look at that whilst the car was in for the recalls but there was no feedback so I need to chase it up.
Does anyone know what the actual drive shift fault is that causes the click?

I had the update and the drive shaft sorted at the early part of August and both have been fine since. The 3.2.1 software seems to be a lot more stable. Make sure that the re-apply the "New Settings" pop up fix after the 3.2.1 update as it seems to have this regression and there were reports from early adopters that they had this annoying issue come back. Thankfully due to good engagement with CUPRA HQ, they listened, confirmed the reports and issued immediate instructions to all dealers to re-apply this and thankfully there have been no further reports. A good example of CUPRA making some positive steps here. All dealers should have this instruction now so you should not need to tell them but it's worth mentioning.
As for the drive shaft tool, this is understandable. Some of the specialist tools are very expensive and as such, dealers and factory use a tool booking system where specialist tools are booked out to dealers. However, stating they don't have the tool is not great. While it may be true, they do have access to all the tools and so should book this and time it in line with your work.
I have had A LOT of dealings with CUPRA HQ about various things and how they can improve on customer service and to be completely fair to them, they have made huge improvements. Sadly, there are still a number dealers out there who do not have the knowledge or are not prepared to gain it. This reflects on the brand directly so they are addressing these issues but to do that, they need to be made aware so I'd suggest that you drop a short email to executive.office.vwguk@seatcars.co.uk detailing your experience and naming the dealer and they should get onto it.
Good luck.

It's caused by a slight play in the drive shaft union with the rear wheels. "Acceptable tolerances" I was told and not dangerous. The fix is to remove the drive shafts and apply locking paste. Ours has been fine since the fix. It seems like a fairly common issue on the MEB platform as I've seen ID.3 owners mention it too.Daveion wrote: ↑Wed Sep 20, 2023 7:26 am I had a similar experience with the battery module check which was finally resolved by Cupra calling the dealership to explain the process. I had the same issue... apparently they had to "glue" my driveshaft and leave it to set overnight. Sounds awful doesn't it
Not heard it since though... suddenly the car was all quiet!
It only happened for me when slowly pulling away from a complete stop

Mine needed "new parts" for this when checked at 10k. Done under warranty. Can't say exactly what parts as still there waiting for battery recall work to be completed.
Mine has been in twice to fix the click. First time apparently fixed the drive shaft and applied the paste required but as soon as I drove it away from the service centre it clicked again. I was suspicious they didnt do anything than check the car over as when I collected it I couldn’t see any signs of work. The car was still dirty and no evidence of any hand prints etc around the wheels/ body work. Rebooked it in straight away but had a two month wait for the next appointment. Second time in, cupra advised the dealer to adjust tolerances in suspension bolts nothing mentioned about drive shafts. Clicking went away, so they either rectified the original drive shaft problem or it is a secondary issue with the suspension. However, the click has returned again and the electric motor seems to be putting out a louder whirring noise than usual. I am beginning to question the overall build quality and longer term reliability of these cars. Mine is an early 22 model which was ordered during the height of the component shortage so may well be sub standard quality. I’m reluctant to take it back again as the wait times are ridiculous and they don’t seem to have a clue about the products. Im tempted to off load it but ev values have dropped off a cliff. Not sure I’d go with another cupra
