Mine did a full on emergency stop for no real reason the other day. Was driving around a country lane and had to pull right over for an oncoming car (which activated the parking mode). The other car stopped to let me through and as I moved off the car erroneously decided I was going to hit the side of the road and the car stopped dead at about 4 mph. My passengers thought I’d crashed it was that hard.
It did a similar thing the next day just as I pulled away for some foliage!
I can understand it has to brake before you actually hit something but when it gets it wrong it’s very unnerving. I tended to steer to clear of the side of the road after that for fear of the car slamming on the brakes for no reason. I think in future I’ll be turning that particular safety feature off but unlike the mostly dangerous lane assist, it’s something I’d rather leave on for the times it isn’t wrong.
Cupra Born Pet Hates
Another one related to a few posts here about the left hand wiper set up; it means that you’re left with a dirty great smudge or rainy area about 4” wide down the right hand edge of the windscreen. I know I can just clean it though so it sometimes comes down to laziness on my part.
I hate that dead stop if the car thinks you’re too close to something. Like the passenger in the previous post, I thought I’d hit something I couldn’t see.
Yes, I appreciate the Taycan is a different level of car. We will most likely keep the Born for my wife, who also loves it

Just a few gripes.
Heated steering while, don't like it, don't want it. cant get it to stay off.
User profiles. Pointless, doesn't hold any of the settings between users.
Carplay, or forget it. rubbish stereo. Suprisingly good speakers for the pauper option though.
swipe touch screen.
lane assist you can't get rid off that activly wants to kill me.
reversing camera that doesn't want to switch off until I'm out of the estate.
It's comfy, kinda pretty. And not a finished product.
Glad it's on lease though so I don't have to keep it forever.
The wife on the other hand loves it and won't hear a word said against it.
Heater steering wheel is remembering its setup, so it won't come on (even when cold outside temp).
Lane assist is 2 clicks, one on the top right favourite button, then select it off (1st you need to decide what your 4 favourites will be, my first one is lane assist, 2nd is autohold (I turn it on in city stop and start)

The wiper issue your picture so adequately highlights is inexcusable. I'm a big fan of many things on the car and most of the niggles, whilst annoying, are livable. The low window angle however already leads to a pretty awful blind spot and then you add in a few inches of dirty window and you can't see anything out of that corner.Bloodborn wrote: ↑Tue May 16, 2023 5:06 pm Another one related to a few posts here about the left hand wiper set up; it means that you’re left with a dirty great smudge or rainy area about 4” wide down the right hand edge of the windscreen. This blindspot is probably the worst issue fon the car for me as it's downright dangerous on certain junctions or right hand corners. The little triangle window between the door and the windscreen doesn't offer much to help and not helped at all by a wiper system that can't clean the drivers side fully.
My pet hate is how just how dirty it gets. I've never known a car to get so filthy after one return trip to work, and the big rear spoiler seems to pull rain onto the rear window. My mechanic mate speculated that the flat bottom of the car caused water and dirt to be lifted off the road as you drive along.

Thinks it's all a result of making the car less "draggy" all the dirt and rain is blown back onto the car. Saying that it's not a huge amount worse than previous hatchbacks I've owned - but I live out in the country so fairly used to having a car covered in crap!Baconrage wrote: ↑Thu Jun 06, 2024 8:12 am My pet hate is how just how dirty it gets. I dislike the drivers seat squab switch, which turns the car off and on when you lift yourself off the seat or sit back down on it. An utter pain when you are trying to clean the inside of the screen, as you have to take your weight of the seat to reach the extremeties of the glass.

I mean.... everyone tends to post what they hate online, rather than positive reviews. But, here's my list. I love my Cupra
1) Stupid, retarded, drivers seat ignition thing where it forgets everything the second you lift your ass off the seat.
2) Info system lag. They will never fix this as the processor is just too slow. Last dealer update actually made it worse. I can be 800 yards from my house before 'OK' appears.
3) Beats sound system. Just disappointing. The stock system in my Ford Ranger far out-performed the Beats system.
4) Stupid auto-braking thing. One day it will work in my favour. BUT... every night when I drive along my road, it sees a red car parked at the side of the road on a slight curve and nearly throws me through the windscreen.
5) The dirty thing. Yes... never had a car that gets so dirty, so fast. Especially the back.
6) Rear camera. Dirty within 0.5 seconds of cleaning it. You can press the windscreen water jets when in reverse and clean it however.
7) Squeaky drivers seatbelt socket rubbing on the drivers seat.
8) The fact that the forward cameras are not cleaned by the windscreen wipers.
9) Unmarked fusebox cover. The fuse listing is online. Really useful at the side of the M4.
10) Lane botherer. Turn it off every single time I get in.
11) The 'Please pay attention to the road' ticking off while I am scrolling through your crappy menu. I then spend an additional 20 seconds 'not looking at the road' waiting for the progress bar to complete.
12) The non working touch door handles when it rains
13) The fact that the USB slots (which are in a stupid place) take the contents of your USB music folders and just make one massive list of tracks, rather than keep the album folders they were in.
14) The stupid steering wheel volume buttons.
15) Unilluminated touch strips under the Info system
16) The annoying 'Front/back' electric window button that nearly always seems to get accidentality switched to back. Times I have open the rear window by accident at a drive-through.
17) The horrific, tear inducing depreciation
Goddam, that list escalated

Regarding 8, you obviously don't know where the front facing camera is if you expect it to be cleaned by the wipers.
