At least in Spain, since a few weeks ago the Born can be ordered with Pilot L, including Travel Assist. Maybe it will now be possible to order the proper Eboost steering wheel with capacitive sensors via the official dealer, and have it fitted there without warranty issues?

Can the e-Boost variant be ordered in Spain with Pilot L, including Travel assist though?

Not all E-Boost steering wheels are capacitative - our 2 e-Boosts at home don't have a capacitative steering wheel.

Yes, you can order now the Exclusive Pack Plus which includes Pilot L with Travel Assist, also with the 77kwh Eboost version, so I guess at least in the near future we should be able to order the steering wheel with the specs for this car.

I'm happy with the extra light on the steering wheel via OBD11. Not a fan of most assistance systems apart from ACC - Lane Assist itself seemingly tries to make you crash by ignoring any obstacles between line markings.

Just activated Travel Assiste using OBD11. I didn't have time to try it out properly, but on a very short stretch of dual lane road in town (and with a 50 km/h speed limit), I tried it and it seemed to be working just fine. My car doesn't seem to have the capacitive steering wheel, but when the steering wheel icon showed up all it needed was a tiny wiggle to satisfy it. Should be fine to use on motorways, I will let you know as soon as I've had a chance to try it properly.

So, I've been able to use Travel Assist without a capacitive steering wheel for a few motorway trips. As long as you periodically give the wheel a very slight "wiggle" from side to side it doesn't complain. The wiggle can be small enough that it doesn't actually have any noticeable steering input, literally just a few millimetres in each direction, but it's still an annoying thing to have to be constantly doing. I'm not convinced that it would make long motorway trips any more comfortable. It will be useful for occasionally having to use both hands for something, like swapping my normal glasses for sunglasses.

If it were possible to fit a capacitive wheel at the dealer, and the cost isn't prohibitive, I would probably do it, but it seems unlikely that a dealer would do that.

Hi!

The Travel Assist button on the steering wheel suddenly went off. When touched no clicking sound, no indication on the drivers' screen. ACC and Lane assist work fine. Is it a software issue I need to visit the dealer about, or is there something I can do to fix it?

Yes, it is. But make sure you are setting the correct bits for each Byte Value. Also you *must* write down (or take a picture) of the values that were there before you change anything so you can go back to what you had before in case you mess anything up.

Apparently, there are modules available to fake the hand-input: https://nl.aliexpress.com/item/10050064 ... ry_from%3A haven't tried this myself, but looks very tempting. I guess that you need to code the capacitive steering wheel for it to work.
