So I collected my shiny new car a little under three weeks ago and it's spent 9 days of that sat in the workshop of the local dealer. The car developed a drive system fault that when it happens wipes out all regen braking, all cruise control functions and loses the ability to change from D to B or R. The good news is that when it happens it can be reset by getting out of the car, locking, unlocking and starting again, assuming that the passengers also get out. After a week of looking, the garage have determined that the fault is the infotainment module, so they've ordered a new one. Problem is it's on back order and they can't be sure when it will arrive. I can't be sure that when it does, the problem won't recur.
So currently keeping my fingers crossed that everything will be resolved, while keeping an eye on the date as I currently have the option to hand the car back to them in the first 30 days under the Consumer Rights Act 2015. If I do, I might go and buy an old Citroen 2CV, as I hear that they can be completely dismantled and reassembled with nothing more than a penknife and a lump hammer.
Drive System Fault
Since when can the ICAS3 infotainment unit handle regen? Let alone the active gear? That's all handled by ICAS1, the main drive controller.

Maybe they misspoke or simply dumbed it down.

Maybe they’ve dumbed it down, or maybe the detail was lost between the service dept and the sales dept. Either way, tomorrow marks 23 days since the car was registered and 13 days since the car went to the dealer’s service dept. One last conversation with them tomorrow and unless there is some positive news, they’ll be keeping the car for good and I’ll be looking for an alternative set of wheels.
