I was replacing the battery in my key fob and accidentally removed the rubber cover over the buttons, instead of the hard plastic back cover which covers the battery compartment. Once removed, it is basically impossible to put it back properly as there is just no way to wedge the rubber "flanges" in where they are supposed to fit.
As you can see from the picture, it is possible to separate the surround of the fob into two parts. For refitting the rubber, it was enough to just "unhook" the larger angled part which allowed me to put the rubber back in place perfectly.

useful tip. just changed my battery this week and looked like it would be easy to take off the wrong side if you weren't thinking.
FYI - there is no warning or indication if the battery is going flat. In my BMW the car actually tells you when you get in if the key battery is going flat.....but in the Born, the only way you find out is when the key stops working, which it did just the other day when my wife was out with the car! She worked out how to open the door manually easily enough, but had to call me when she couldn't get the car alarm to stop going off! I am still not sure exactly how to shut it off in that scenario, in our case it looks like when the key warmed up again we could get enough battery power to lock and open the car using the key buttons.

On my Born I got a warning, both in the car and in the app, which is what prompted me to change the battery.

Thanks! I thought the Kessy logo was on the steering column when I was attempting to help my wife over the phone. I hadn't had a chance to look up where it actually is yet so thanks for that.

Unfortunately I was a victim of this about a month before you posted this. My rubber cover was not all the way off and I did manage to get it back on without doing this but it took me over an hour to do it all. Good tip because I had no idea this came apart!
