I have recently returned from a 3000km round trip to the South of France with my 58kwh Born.
I had an intermittent problem with the CCS plug not connecting at some fast chargers. The charger would connect show the vehicle SoC and time on charge but zero charge.. The car socket clicked a few times to lock the plug to the socket, then the charger stopped and showed an error that connection was not made.
In one case I moved to another station 20km further on, with the same supplier Engie, and identical charger, and it connected first time and charged.
I assume the problems is the Born not locking the plug. The ambient temperature was high, over 34C, so it might be temperature related. Has anyone experienced this problem?
On a positive note electric charging on French motorways is a joy. All the service areas I visited had chargers, in some case 24 stalls, regularly 12. One "Aire", a picnic area in the countryside had 4 stalls. I only had to wait once for 5 minutes at a smaller site. The only downside is paying the motorway tolls!
Octopus Electroverse card was accepted at all the chargers I used, including at Carrefour supermarket and Lidl. Cupra Plug and Charge worked at some chargers. I used Tesla for one charge using their app.
CCS Plug not locking
We've had the same issue. Found if you hold the cable and plug in the socket for 2 or 3 seconds to stop the plug from moving while the Born eventually locks it is more reliable. We will report this as an issue for the next service.
