Steering wheel marks
I recently noticed that my steering wheel has a series of marks along the top on the outside. They are like little nicks 3 or 4mm apart. The nicks are very regularly spaced over a length of maybe 8cm. I definitely didn’t scuff the wheel in any way. Has anyone else had anything similar happen?

This couldn’t be jeans as it’s on the top. I also think the marks are too regular to be caused by something moving over it. In another forum for a different model of Cupra someone had something similar that they thought was caused by the heating element in the wheel.

Assuming you haven't done anything to mark the wheel, the only explanations I can think of are that they are:
- A byproduct of the manufacturing or car assembly process. If so, it is not really good enough.
- Possibly due to a steering wheel clamp having been used at some point (in a dealer's yard perhaps).
I'd put my money on the first bullet point.

I had something similar on a previous car. My guess was it was my wedding band dragging on the wheel over time caused it but that was only a guess. My other guess is that something has been dragged across it and the slight movement/shuddering of the wheel has caused the jump marks.
