Octopus do set a window for cheap electric but you also benefit from extra charging outside of that where if there is spare capacity in the grid it will charge at cheap rate. In my experience it was just a case of setting a schedule in my Ohme app and I've never had to think about it since.

You'll probably need to update the supplier details in the charger app as well though.

But I read this and now it fills me with dread that I am going to have all this messing around trying to get it to work..... Cupra App this, Octopus App that, Zappi App this...

WHY can't there just be one App to control it? Even better, no App at all. Not everyone has a smart phone (granted most people do).

Why can't Octopus just set a time window where the rate is cheap and then the user sets his charger to use that window. I can't believe they need to switch the juice on and off during the night due to supply issues or to make use of the lulls in the supply demand. It's just all too complicated for it's own good.

This is one of my main problems with me Born. If there is a failed charge cycle while I am asleep, I am left with a car with limited range and then have to charge at a forecourt somewhere for an hour.

In theory, you should be able to set up the Octopus app to control everything. You don't need the Zappi app except for monitoring. You can turn off the Cupra Born "routines" and then you don't need the Cupra app.
Having said that, I haven't actually been able to make that work reliably.
You have to have a smartphone in order to get IOGo so that is not an issue.

Octopus do set a time window (23:30 - 05:30). You can then set the Cupra Born "Charge at preferred times" routine in the car to charge at any time within that window. Plug the car in, make sure the Zappi is set to "Fast", turn on the routine in the app and leave it to run. Octopus may set a charging plan, but the Cupra routine should override it.

I've been through all the frustrations that you are experiencing with IOGo/Cupra/Zappi, and I turned the air blue a few times, but once I got it straight in my own head and worked out a strategy, it has worked perfectly for me ever since. I had a few extra wrinkles to work out because I have a solar panel + battery setup but now I have no worries. In fact, for the last two months, Octopus has been paying me more for exported energy than they have charged me for the Grid supply.

Yea.... I am just having that 'tired of tech' week to be honest.

I never use the Cupra app... I find it appallingly useless and just don't bother.

Currently, I plug in the Zappi and press start. That is it.
I am sure I will get it sorted out.

Did you manage to switch and get a smart meter?

Boris7 wrote: Tue Dec 12, 2023 5:52 am One thing I’d check (as it caused this exact issue for me) when you plug in you will almost certainly be outside of the 23:30 - 05:30 low rate schedule.
When you plug in at let’s say dinner time the car should start to charge, after a few moments it will stop charging (I assume this is what you mean by the green light)

At this point.
1. Do you let it charge or do you stop it as it’s not in the cheap time window? If you do so, that will be the issue, it has to charge for a while to communicate with Octopus before they then turn it off and initiate the schedule, once you press stop the octopus schedule won’t come back on.
2. If 1. Doesn’t apply check the chargers mode, if you have solar then make sure the charger isn’t set to give priority to solar only.

I have a Zappi and Solar with house batteries and when first using intelligent Go made mistake as in 1,

I then found eco+ and intelligent Go meant I had to effectively NOT stop the charger from the app during solar charging, I have to simply unlock the car and disconnect the cable, if I stop the charger then I have to change its settings again before intelligent Go will kick back in.

If you have a pin lock on the charger then check that’s not timing out. I should be set to enable the charger once connected and unlock and stay enabled until disconnected again rather than time out and need the code again.
Hello all! I had this problem -
Plugging in, Green light, then schedule planned, but schedule “can’t control charger” or something. Reading Boris very detailed response the lesson I took was leave my app alone once connected. Wherein I’d been frantically on it and off it thinking nothing was happening, including stopping the charge I thought was a bump charge on plugging in. It appears plugging it in and leaving it the eff alone was the key. 2 x seperate scheduled charges successfully done last night. Ta Boris x

Seems to be an issue with Octopus working today. Octopus wouldn't show charging schedule and indicated the car was unplugged. Opened Cupra app and it made me sign in again and agree to new terms and conditions but hasn't resolved the link. Hopefully they have not messed something up

Same issue here but with Ohme charger linked to Cupra API.

Ohme can't read SoC so is assuming 0% and charging to 100%.
