Re: Intelligent Octopus schedule charging not working!!

Well I am looking at going over to Octopus Intelligent imminently due to my high electric bills... I have a 7kw Zappi charger But I read this and now it fills me with dread that I am going to have all this messing around trying to get it to work..... Cupra App this, Octopus App that, Zappi App this...

Re: Charging costs are killing me

Well.... I am going with Octopus, assuming they get the meter installed (which is where they fell down last time) Good choice. And surprisingly cheap once you're on the tariff. And you get loads of data about your usage and costs. Also stupidly, you can't go straight on the EV tariff. You have to g...

Re: Problem with electronic key

Evidence based? Sure, there are many scientific publications which discuss the ability of carbon fiber to attenuate EMF: https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/S1359836818343762 As for this impacting the Born, this has been discussed on the German Born forum. Take 2 fobs (ideally wit...

Re: Problem with electronic key

Does your key fob have the special carbon fiber cover? If so, try swapping it with the regular plastic cover. Carbon fiber can act like a Faraday cage and block EMF signals     If you don't want to swap covers, you can try rotating the carbon fiber side away from the vehicle...

Re: Battery safety

I would leave the car with a fairly low charge level and not worry about it (i.e. don't charge it before leaving). Here's an article with real data about car fires. EV's seem relatively safe to me. https://www.fleetnews.co.uk/news/tusker-fleet-data-reveals-the-truth-about-ev-fires#:~:text=With%20dat...

Re: Intelligent Octopus schedule charging not working!!

I started using IO Go with a Zappi charger around October 2023. I had several problems getting the plan/charging sorted, especially as I had a solar panels/battery setup. It took a few months (basically through to the end of January 2024) to settle on a strategy that worked. One thing to make sure o...

Had mine since Jan '23, but a bit further north in Tamworth. You're right though, I haven't seen any others with Firestorm wheels.

Re: Who’s happy with their Born ?

I’m also suspicious of Octopus intelligent long term, Intelligent is great as I can charge the house batteries overnight, and run the washing machine, dish washer etc, but I’m thinking the energy supplier taking control of the car charger is going to lead to changes that will not benefit the likes ...

Re: Who’s happy with their Born ?

Good Evening All…. I’m Just 1 year into owning the Cupra born. V2. Prior to this I drove an id4 for a year. Overall, I think the born is quite a nice car, comfortable to drive etc. however after trying for 2 years the whole electric thing doesn’t seem to be working out. The cost of charging now ver...

Re: Tyre size 235/45-r19

Also be aware that, in the UK, cars with Firestorm wheels have small plastic strips added to the wheel arches because the tyres extend slightly beyond the wheel arches and are therefore not compliant with UK safety law. If you fit the wider tyres you may have to fit those strips or face being stoppe...
